So I was chatting with M, my older stepson. And I said to him, "M, you know that our family is unique. Most step families aren't as close as we are. I even have a stepmom that I can't stand. Many stepmoms aren't happy to be stepmoms, but I really love you guys and I am dedicated to being your stepmom." He said, "I know what you mean. My friend at school told me the other day about something her stepmom did and she said that she hated her stepmom. And I said, 'Really? I love my stepmom. We're pretty close.' "
Can I just tell you that my heart stopped.
Sigh.
